President Bola Tinubu, former President Muhammadu Buhari, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and others have commiserated with Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Radda, over the loss of his mother, Hajiya Safara’u Umaru Radda, on Saturday.

The remains of Hajiya Radda, aged 93, arrived at Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport, Katsina, on Sunday afternoon, for onward burial at his home in Radda village in Charanchi Local Government Area.

The body was accompanied from Abuja by the Deputy Governor, Mallam Faruk Jobe; the deceased eldest daughter, Hajiya Hauwa Umaru, and the governor’s wife, Hajiya Fatima Radda.

In Katsina, the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Nasir Daura, other lawmakers, members of the State Executive Council, and the Head of State Civil Service, Alhaji Falaliu Bawale, received the remains.

The body was subsequently conveyed to Radda Village for interment.

At the burial were Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf and Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, among others.

Radda is in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, for the Hajj.

Commiserating with the governor, Tinubu, in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, described the deceased nonagenarian as a selfless woman who nurtured generations of leaders who excelled in different endeavours.

The President says Hajiya Safara’u left behind a legacy of integrity and community service that permeated far and near.

Former President Buhari, in a message released by Garba Shehu, said, “It is with profound sadness that I convey my deepest sympathies for the passing of your beloved mother, Hajiya Safara’u.

“No matter how big a person becomes, they need their mother. The thoughts and prayers of my family are with you and your family during this difficult period as we remember her life and service to women and the community at large.”

Former Vice President Atiku, in a message, said “I received with sadness but with submission of the will of Allah, the passing of Hajiya Safara’u Umaru Barbari, the beloved mother of His Excellency Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, the Governor of Katsina State.

“There’s no loss like the loss of a mother, as she is often the pillar of the family and a source of wisdom and guidance.
