The Managing Director of PETROCAM, Dr Patrick Ilo, has declared his support for President Bola Tinubu’s green energy initiatives through his Compress Natural Gas drive, saying that is the only way to go.

Ilo, who agreed with the dynamism of life, said that pending a change in the normal flow of events, green energy is the solution to multiple challenges in the country.

The businessman with a specialisation in petroleum made his stance known at the recent unveiling of a 100 KVA solar power supply plant at a branch filling station on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

He explained that when embraced, solar energy will not only preserve the lives of the people through limited carbon emissions, but it will also permanently resolve the challenges of epileptic power supply.

He said, “Life is transient and evolving, but for now, green energy is the way to go.

“Honestly, I support President Bola Tinubu’s initiative of the CNG programmes. I may not support him on other policies, but for the CNG initiative, I support Mr President; he got it right.

“Anything that reduces cost, excludes bureaucracies, and makes life easier is the way to go. But people are concerned about the capital; believe me, banks are ready to fund solar projects. They are requesting people to come for solar funding, but many do not know.”

While explaining the reason for his excitement, Ilo stated that the newly installed solar has the capacity to generate power that will be used and send unused power to the national grid in support of the federal government.

He added that modern solar energy was the first of its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa.

He said, “We are here to open an ultra-modern 100 kVA power grid solution, a top-notch and one of its kind in sub-Saharan Africa. It was like an evolution power system that can power a lot.

“To be honest, this has a very high capital outlay, but it is reliable, and we are ready to do whatever to save the environment. This is green energy. It is safer for residents because it reduces a lot of carbon emissions. This means living a better life is important even in a cancerous world by doing your part, making sure you take your destiny into your own hands, and broadly helping us get out of climate actions.

“This is also a multiple stream of income because you can also sell unused power to the people. The one we generate, and we can’t use, can be passed into the national grid, and this will help the government to better serve the people.”

The Managing Director of GINNEX Technologies, Oluwatoyin Ilo, also extolled the uniqueness of the 100kva solution, advising Nigerians to turn to solar-powered energy generation.

Though the IT expert refused to state the amount committed to the project, she corroborated the PETROCAM boss’ assertion, saying the 100 kVA solar solution was the first of its kind.
“Technology is evolving, and we will not wait, but at the moment, this is a one-of-a-kind in the country. The very first in Nigeria,” he said.
