Springfield’s Full Operations Is Capable Of Crashing Food Prices – Stakeholders, Consumers

The launch of Springfield Agro Limited’s Crop Protection Chemical Plant in Sagamu, Ogun State, has reignited optimism about Nigeria’s agricultural landscape.

Industry stakeholders believe that the $12 million facility, which produces herbicides and insecticides alongside an integrated bottle manufacturing unit, could play a crucial role in addressing food security challenges and reducing food prices. Consumers, however, are eager to see tangible impacts on market prices.

In fact, not a few stakeholders and consumers who witnessed the commissioning of the Plant in Sagamu, Ogun State last week, expressed confidence that its full operations would crashed food as boost in production of crops beckons.

Mr. Narain Chanrai, Chairman of the Kewalram Chenrai Group, during the commissioning of the plant, emphasised the importance of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) in fostering economic growth.

He stated, “As the government and private sector work together for growth, this project serves as a shining example of what can be achieved through collaboration and commitment to development.”

Vice-President Kashim Shettima, represented by the Minister of State for Agriculture, Senator Sabi Abdullahi, reiterated the government’s commitment to expanding industrial capacity in the agricultural value chain.

He remarked, “The guarantee of food security in Nigeria lies in our ability to expand industrial capacity across the value chain.”
