Okoloje pegs society’s woes on dysfunctional family patterns in book launch
Moses Okoloje
In the words of the esteemed literary figure William Shakespeare, “The voice of parents is the voice of gods, for to their children, they are Heaven’s lieutenants.” Building on this idea, author Moses Okoloje intricately explores the fundamental role of the family unit in shaping the character traits of children.
He blames the current societal moral decadence on the dwindling of family values and the apathy of parents in being intentional about the upbringing of their children.
Okoloje noted that the values, beliefs, and behaviors instilled within the family setting are crucial for molding individuals who can contribute positively to society.
According to him, through nurturing environments and strong familial bonds, children are equipped with the moral framework necessary to foster a harmonious and convivial community.
Moses Okoloje shared this insightful perspective during the launch of his book titled “Giving Your Today for Their Tomorrow,” which took place recently at the Foursquare Gospel Church in Kubwa, Abuja.
He called on parents to retrace their steps and become firm, artistic hands that sculpt the destinies of their children for the overall benefit of society.
“There is a sudden decline in parental influence in this generation, and its evidence is in the obvious wantonness of immorality currently devaluing our society. My book is crafted to spur parents to be at the top of their game, to be intentional parents, giving their all to make their children contribute meaningfully to society,” he stated.
The book reviewer, Mr. Godwin Odemijie, the Chief Executive Officer of Gado Agency, described the book as not merely a literary work but an outpouring of deep concern for the destiny of the next generation.
He noted that every page of the book is inscribed with a compelling call to action, urging parents and guardians to embrace the necessary sacrifices that will ensure a brighter, more purposeful future for their children.
In his words: “In this book, he offers invaluable insights into the intricate and demanding task of child-rearing. He acknowledges that shaping a child’s future is no simple endeavor; it requires dedication, intentional effort, and an unwavering commitment to nurturing them toward a fruitful and fulfilling adult life. Neglecting this duty is not only an abdication of divine responsibility but also an invitation to disaster.”
Miss Oluchukwu Okolo, the author’s daughter, revealed that many parents today are hesitant to guide their children, which has contributed to some neglect of responsibilities among young people.
To address this issue, she suggests that the book could serve as a valuable resource for parents, helping them take a more proactive role in shaping the character and values of their children.
