The Defence Headquarters has said that over 800 Boko Haram terrorists are undergoing deradicalisation. How do you see the development?

When you talk of reform­ing terrorists, are we following the law? If a man is caught in a criminal activity, what does the law say? It said he should be ar­raigned in a formal court. Allow justice to take its course. If a man is to be corrected or refined, the judge should remand him to the Correction facility, according to the law. It is not take him else­where and say you are reforming him. Who recommended the ref­ormation? Is it the judge? Maybe we should gather kidnappers, bandits, ritual killers, armed robbers, etc, and begin to reform them. I feel that issues that both­er on serious offences that car­ry death sentence and are trea­sonable, the law should take its course. So far, I do not know how many terrorists and bandits have been arraigned and sentenced. What happened to the bombers of the church in Nasarawa and Abu­ja? The matter just fizzled out like that. I think there is something funny in all these. The Defence Headquarters should explain to us. Is it the judge of a court that sentenced them and recommend­ed rehabilitation? Or did they just decide on their own to rehabili­tate the terrorists?

The Kaduna State government has said that it is negotiation with Boko Haram insurgents and bandits. What is your take on this?

I think my view is the same as the last question. Do we decide to negotiate with criminals? Are they better equipped than the Ni­gerian Military to the extent that the military cannot take them out? The American Marine has it that they do not negotiate with terrorists. Rather, they send ter­rorists to their maker. You only negotiate with them if they are more powerful. Do they have a face? You negotiate with people that have a face. What they are saying is that we should go ahead and negotiate with criminals or armed robbers in our midst. In fact, I do not support negotiation with terrorists.
