President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, has questioned America’s huge expenditure in Ukraine.

The President on Tuesday raised questions about where all the money sent to Ukraine has gone and also blamed the country’s leadership for even starting a war and allowing it to linger for so long.

Trump addressed reporters at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, dismissing Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky’s concerns about being left out of the peace talk meeting between Russia and the USA in Saudi Arabia.The American leader, who insisted that he has the power to end the war, seemed to imply that Kyiv was to blame for the conflict.

After the meeting on Tuesday, US and Russian officials said they had agreed to explore the “economic and investment opportunities” to end the war.

Ukraine had expressed concerns over its absence from the meeting, insisting that its outcome would be strange to its people. Kyiv said it would not accept whatever comes out of a meeting without the presence of the European Union.

Zelensky and European leaders are worried that Trump could push for a peace settlement that favours Vladimir Putin.

“Today I heard, ‘Oh, we weren’t invited’. Well, you’ve been there for three years. You should have ended it three years [ago] – you should have never started it. You could have made a deal,” Trump said in response to concerns regarding the absence of European leaders and Zelensky in the meeting.

Speaking further, the US leader pointed out that he had seen no accounting of how his country’s military aid to Ukraine is being spent.

“I think I have the power to end this war,” he said.
