The Peoples Democratic Party has set the price of its Nomination and Expressions of Interest forms for the Anambra Governorship election at N35m and N5m, respectively.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission, the Anambra State governorship election will hold on Saturday, November 8, 2025.

In a letter sent to the Anambra State Chapter Chairman, Chidi Chidebe, the APC National Secretary, Sunday Ude-Okoye, and other members of the National Working Committee, the PDP outlined its timetable, which was exclusively obtained by The PUNCH on Tuesday.

The documents, dated February 13 and signed by PDP National Organising Secretary Umar Bature, also stated that the final date for form submissions is March 7.

According to the letter and document, the sales of Nomination and Expressions of Interest forms will begin on February 24 and end in March.

According to the documents, the PDP Anambra State governorship primary election is scheduled for April 5, with a committee set to receive appeals related to the primary on April 8.

Additionally, a Critical Stakeholder Interactive Session with the NWC will take place on March 10 at the PDP national headquarters, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.

The screening of aspirants is set for March 11, with appeals for the screening exercise scheduled for March 14.

On March 19, the NWC will meet to approve and release the list of cleared candidates.

Also, the ward congress to elect three ad hoc delegates per ward will be held between March 20 and March 21, while the local government congress to elect one delegate per LGA is set for March 27.

The PDP NWC is also scheduled to present the Certificate of Return to the candidate on April 10, and submit the candidate and their running mate’s names and certificates to INEC on May 22.

S’Court hears PDP secretary’s appeal

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has scheduled March 10 for the hearing of an appeal filed by the embattled National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Samuel Anyanwu, challenging his removal from office.

Anyanwu, in a 10-ground appeal filed through his counsel, Ken Njemanze (SAN), is contesting the decision of the Court of Appeal, Enugu Division, which on December 20, 2024, upheld a High Court ruling that removed him as PDP National Secretary and recognized Sunday Udey-Okoye in his place.

Dissatisfied with the majority decision of the appellate court, Anyanwu approached the Supreme Court, seeking to overturn the judgment.

Listed as respondents in the appeal are Aniagu Emmanuel, the PDP, Ambassador Iliya Damagun (PDP National Chairman), and High Chief Ali Odefa (PDP National Vice Chairman, Southeast Zone).

Anyanwu argues that the Court of Appeal erred in law by affirming the trial court’s jurisdiction over a matter involving the internal affairs of the PDP.

He contends that issues related to party leadership and membership are non-justiciable and fall outside the jurisdiction of any court.

Additionally, he faulted the lower court for failing to determine whether the plaintiff, Emmanuel, exhausted the party’s internal dispute resolution mechanisms before filing the suit, as required by the PDP constitution.

During Tuesday’s proceedings, Njemanze represented Anyanwu, while Paul Erokoro appeared for the first respondent.

Joshua Musa (SAN) announced his appearance for the second and third respondents, while Okwudili Anozie also appeared for the second respondent.

Justice Ibrahim Saulawa, presiding over the five-member panel, raised concerns over the duplication of counsel for the second respondent, stating:

“You people should sort yourselves out. The court cannot and will not by any means get into the issue of choosing a counsel for a party.”

In response, Musa clarified that he had been authorized by the PDP National Chairman (third respondent) to represent both himself and the party.

He presented a letter confirming this mandate.

Following deliberations, the court ruled that Musa, as the senior counsel, would lead, with Anozie recorded as appearing alongside him for the second and third respondents.

Njemanze then requested an accelerated hearing, informing the court that the appellant’s brief of argument had been filed on February 4.

Musa responded that his clients had filed a notice of non-contestation on February 5, indicating they would not oppose the appeal.

Erokoro, however, requested additional time until Friday to file his brief of argument.

The court directed all respondents to file their briefs by Friday and ordered the appellant to submit a response by Monday. The matter was subsequently adjourned to March 10 for the hearing of the appeal.
