Access Bank Plc, through its Access Women Network, has provided financial assistance to two breast cancer patients, empowering them in their ongoing battle against the disease.

In an event held by the bank in the Victoria island area of Lagos state on Monday, the beneficiaries, Felista Enwerem and Olushola Seun, received N3.8 m and N3.03 m, respectively, to support their breast cancer treatment.

This initiative follows the bank’s free breast cancer screening and awareness campaign in November 2024, where over 300 women benefitted from the programme.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Director of Corporate and Investment Banking, Iyabo Soji-Okusanya, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to positively impacting the communities it serves.

“We have tasked ourselves with the responsibility to continue to impact the communities and the markets where we operate. It is not just about making profits or having clients; it is about being known as a leader in the place of impact,” Soji-Okusanya said.

Additionally, the Zonal Head of the Commercial Banking Division, Access Bank, Vashti Samdi, explained that the financial aid was a direct result of the bank’s outreach in November.

He said, “Two individuals reached out to us after being diagnosed, and we decided to support them as part of our ongoing commitment to empowering women in our society.”

The Chief Customer Experience Officer, Virginie Nowak, highlighted that Access Women Network operates not only in Nigeria but across Africa, focusing on five strategic pillars that include education, empowerment, and health.

In his remarks the Chief Executive Officer of Health Fusion, Tokunbo Otitoju, commended Access Bank’s efforts, stating that breast cancer is not just a diagnosis but a journey that requires support. “The fund given by Access Bank offers hope and shows that these women are not alone in their fight,” Otitoju said.
