The 42 Engineer Brigade, Letmuck Barracks of the Nigerian Army, Ibadan in Oyo State, on Friday, solicited the support of the state water corporation on the provision of potable water with the Barracks community.

Its Commander, Brigadier General S.O.J. Aremu made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the corporation.

Aremu, according to a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, in Ibadan, the state capital, said efforts of the state government in reactivating and rehabilitating the water reservoir at Letmuck Barracks are commendable.

He posited that the corporation was a partner in the progress of the Nigerian Army in as much as water is life.
“The state Water Corporation is one of the major stakeholders helping the Nigerian Army in achieving the primary responsibility to make the army live, fight and move.

“The Army is seeking collaboration with the state Water Corporation on how to get water to Odogbo Barracks, enhance the provision of potable water to Letmuck Barracks community as well as provide water to the new facilities of the Nigerian Army at Agodi.”

Responding, the Chairman of the state water corporation, Elias Adeojo said the agency has made provision of potable water to residents of the state a priority despite the limited resources at its disposal.

“The Governor, Makinde has given his approval for the rehabilitation of water equipment of the corporation to meet the yearnings of residents of the state on the provision of potable water”, Adeojo stated.
