The General Overseer, Calvary Bible Church, Pastor Olumide Emmanuel, has urged students of the Lagos State University to desist from using emotions in making important relationship decisions.

Emmanuel said a lot of people had endangered their lives because they allowed emotions to override logic in taking decisions.

He stated this during a programme tagged, ‘Wisdom for Singles’ organised for the students on Wednesday.

The motivational speaker said, “Never take your heart on a journey without your brain. There are lots of young and single people in our world today that have become casualties in the world of love, because they are just plain stupid.

“You are going to get into trouble any time your brain is not engaged. So, never take your heart on a journey without your brain. When your emotion is the driver, and your brain is the passenger in the vehicle of your life, an accident is inevitable.”

The pastor also advised the students to prioritise getting wisdom which is one of the “essential tools for making wise choices and avoiding pitfalls in life.”

He stated that youths should not mourn their singleness, but celebrate it.

“You need to understand that singleness is not a sin. Singleness is not a crime. Singleness is not a disease. Being single is a state of life and a stage of life; and it’s a stage of being prepared for another phase of life,” he said.

Emmanuel also called on the youths not to dismiss warning signals in relationships, stating that sensitivity was key to avoiding pitfalls.

He urged them never to look down on anybody.
