A businessman identified as Richard Nomanzi, has been found dead with multiple knife cuts at his residence in Ogbogoro community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Nomanzi, aged 43, who dealt in metal scrap, was found dead on Wednesday after residents raised the alarm about his whereabouts.

Our correspondent also gathered that neighbours in his compound, perceiving an unpleasant odour from his apartment, alerted the police and his relatives.

Our source disclosed that on entering the apartment, the neighbours saw his lifeless body, and they started shouting at the top of their voices.

Speaking to newsmen in Port Harcourt on Thursday, a woman simply identified as Gift, who had a child for the deceased, said she learnt of the incident from someone who called her on the telephone.

She stated, “My name is Gift, the mother of Favour. Favour is the child of Richard Chijioke.

“I got a call by 3: 15pm yesterday (Wednesday) after school when I was at my business premises. The person asked if I knew Richard Chijioke Nomanzi. I said yes. They asked who was to me. I told them I had a child for him.

“They said, I should come to Ogbogoro immediately. When I got there, I just saw his corpse on his door, the front side. When they turned him, what I saw was scary. They stabbed him all over his face, his stomach and a cut over his neck.

“So, with the help of the police, we took him to the mortuary. All I want right now is justice for him and for his child.”

Our correspondent who saw a video of the deceased reports that he had multiple stabs on his body, suggesting they he might been attacked.

It was gathered that the incident had been reported to the Ozuoba Police Division under the Choba Area Command.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the state police command, Grace Iringe Koko, confirmed the incident, saying an investigation was ongoing.

She stated, “Yes, there is a case of sudden and unnatural death. And the police in Ozuoba stormed the place based on information that we received.

“The team said they saw injuries on his body and the matter is under investigation as we speak.”
