Africa Prudential Plc has appointed Christabel Onyejekwe as the new Chairperson of its Board, following the retirement of Eniola Fadayomi, after 12 years of service.

The announcement was made during the company’s 12th Annual General Meeting held in Lagos on April 11, 2025.

A statement on Monday noted that Onyejekwe, a seasoned business leader with more than 30 years of experience in the financial services sector, previously served as Executive Director, Business Development, at the Nigerian Inter-Bank Settlement Systems Plc.

She is known for leading key initiatives that strengthened Nigeria’s financial infrastructure and currently serves on various corporate boards, bringing with her expertise in governance, strategy, and risk management.

In her farewell remarks, Chief Fadayomi expressed confidence in her successor’s leadership.

“It has been a privilege to serve this great institution, witnessing its transformation into the formidable registrar business it is today,” she said. “I am confident that Mrs. Onyejekwe will bring renewed energy and perspective to the Board, and I have no doubt that Africa Prudential will continue to thrive under her leadership.”

The incoming Chairperson, Onyejekwe, expressed appreciation for the appointment, describing it as an honour.

“I am honoured to take on this role and build on the legacy of excellence established by my predecessors. I look forward to working closely with my colleagues on the board and management to drive the company’s strategic objectives,” she said.

Also retiring from the Board are Non-Executive Directors Samuel Nwanze and Peter Elumelu, both of whom served for 12 years.

As part of its succession strategy, the company announced the appointment of Vincent Ukoh as a Non-Executive Director, subject to regulatory approval by the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Ukoh is currently the Chief Executive Officer of HH Capital Limited, an investment firm with interests spanning financial services, energy, hospitality, and real estate.

Africa Prudential reaffirmed its commitment to strong corporate governance, innovation, and business excellence as it positions for sustained long-term growth.
