Sudanese government has announced a roadmap for post-war recovery, outlining steps toward a political transition, but insists on tough conditions for any ceasefire with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

In a statement issued by the Sudan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, yesterday, in Abuja, the government said the roadmap was developed after extensive consultations with national and societal stakeholders.

The Sudanese army has been regaining control of areas in the city previously held by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in recent weeks.

Army leader, Gen Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, told a meeting of politicians, who back the army over the weekend, that he would form a “technocratic” wartime government with a prime minister.

According to the statement, the dialogue involves launching an all-inclusive national dialogue, forming a technocratic government to oversee the transitional period, and amending the Constitutional Document to guide the country’s political future.

The statement noted that a civilian prime minister would be appointed to lead the executive arm of government, with assurances of non-interference from the military.

The government also reaffirmed its commitment to political freedom, including freedom of expression and movement.

It assured citizens that no one would be denied the right to obtain a passport.

However, authorities ruled out any ceasefire unless the RSF lifted its siege on El Fasher and withdrew from Khartoum, West Kordofan, and the Darfur states.
